3 Big Kids and 6 Babies

I just realized how few pictures we have taken lately. The one with his head in the bowl is Josef. He made his very first banana cream pie yesterday for pi day. We measured the diameter and circumference and then we ate the pie. It was delicious! The picture of Amalie is from when she colored all over her face with a pen. She had a nice moustache and stitches on her forehead for a couple of days. Luckily it came off. Zoey is modeling her Santa Claus dress, a present from Grandma and Grandpa Zollweg. Her Madeline has a matching one and she also is showing off her Cinderella. The picture with all the babies is a picture of all the new Scherbel babies (OK some of their last names are Marshall, but they're still Scherbels). For those of you who don't know, Karl's parents tripled their grandchildren in 5 months. In order of oldest to youngest, the picture is of Scott Quincey (September), Donald Paul, David Warren (twins, October), Jedediah LaMont (December), Eva Marie and Joshua Lyman (twins, January). Aren't they cute? I stole the picture off of Amanda's blog so I should give her credit.
We are all doing well. Quincey is trying to crawl, but he can't quite figure out where to put his arms so he sticks them behind him and tries to swim. He also likes to pick up the corner of the rug and chew on it while he is laying on the floor. Karl has called all of our kids carpet munchers, but Quincey really is. Zoey loves chapstick right now and at one point was carrying around one chapstick that belonged to her, one that she found in the junk drawer, one that she stole from Hannah (sorry Hannah), one that she stole from Ben (sorry Ben), three extras that I had in our bathroom drawer and four lipsticks from my makeup bag. We took the three extras and lipsticks away from her, but she was still carrying around four chapsticks. Needless to say it took a long time for her to put on chapstick and she did it about every five minutes. Amalie is busy right now planning for her birthday party. It is on March 21 at 2 pm. All family is invited. She makes lists and tells me over and over and over, all of the things she would like to do for her party. She is also really interested in spelling and very interested in math. She can ask you math problems all day and never get tired of it. Amalie is also working on building her vocabulary. Josef is Star of the Week this next week and I learned some fascinating things while helping him fill in his poster. He wants to be a farmer when he grows up and he drew a picture of himself milking a cow. His favorite place is Camp New Fork and his favorite thing to do is ask questions. Karl just passed his CFedS exam and can add more letters behind his name. He is now Karl F. Scherbel, DAD, PLS, CFedS. Yay, Karl! I'm just spending my time blogging and taking care of kids. Happy New Year

We had a great Christmas and we hope all of you did too. We are excited to start 2009. We started the new year out by trying out cross country skiing (thanks to abuelos for loaning us their skis). We didn't make it very far, Karl was pulling the sled with Amalie and Zoey and he tipped them face first into the snow. Needless to say, they were done skiing. Karl and Josef skied for awhile and are now working on perfecting their snow fort (see video). I'm including some videos and pictures of the fort. I'm also including some pictures of Zoey and her make up, Quincey's curly hair, Quincey's new hat, and the first time Amalie wrote her name herself. I'm also including a video of Quincey's new favorite song. That beautiful voice you hear in the background is me. We also disconnected our house phone and have new cell phone numbers. Since I'm not going to put our phone numbers on the internet, you'll have to email us or get our numbers from someone who has them.

Well here are the kiddies with good old Santa. Josef wants a transforming Wall-e, Amalie wants a My Little Pony feel better pony, Zoey wants a Cinderella and Quincey just wants to sleep. We went to Utah this weekend and had Christmas a little early. We opened presents from Gramalamadingdong, Grandpa Thomas, Grandma Kellie, Grandpa Kenny, Kenny, Jessica, Baby Kenny, Lincoln, Tairika, Stacey, and Justin. We got a lot of great stuff. Some of our faavorites are the kids new tables, Josef's pirate ship, Zoey's Abby Cadabby (and her DVD see next paragraph), Amalie's Doodle Bear, Quincey's basketball bath tub toy, and of course Mario Kart and the present that we haven't opened yet, but we know what it is.

Kenny, Jessica, and Baby Kenny gave us a movie bucket with popcorn, sprite, brownies and three wrapped packages. Each of the older kids unwrapped one and they were DVDs. Zoey spent the next hour running around saying. "My DVD, My DVD, Look my DVD!" She put all three DVDs in a bag and ran around, "My DVD, My DVD" We put her in her pajamas and she sat on Karl's lap, "My DVD, MY DVD!" She feel asleep on Karl's lap with the DVDs snuggled close to her. Karl tried to take them out of her arms after she was asleep, "my dvd" she whispered and snuggled them even closer. I think she liked her DVD.

Merry Christmas to all of you. We hope that you remember the real meaning of Christmas in this season of craziness. We are so grateful for our elder brother, friend and Savior Jesus Christ. May we all be blessed to remember the gifts he gave us of eternal life and repentance. Merry Christmas.

How much do our girls love tights?

How much do our girls love tights? So much that they want to wear them on their heads. Who knew we would have girlie girls? I just have to tell you what Amalie said the other night. I was teasing her because her room was messy and I said, "Good thing the tooth fairy doesn't have to come in here, she'd trip over your mess." And Amalie said, in her highest pitched voice, "She's a fairy mom, and they fly. I just love fairies and princesses and ballerinas and rainbows and hearts and butterflies and oh mom I love ponies best and I especially like the ones with wings and unicorns." Where did that girl come from anyway?

Here are some pictures we took to put on some christmas ornaments we made. Aren't they cute? Everything is going well for us. As you can see, Quincey is getting bigger everyday. Josef is doing great in school and the girls are doing well at home. Karl did pass his Idaho liscensing test, so he is now liscenced in 2 states. He is also really excited to use the snowblower tomorrow since there is like 6 inches of snow tonight. We also want to say a big thank you to grandma and grandpa Zollweg for the christmas presents. Amalie and Zoey got some beautiful new christmas dresses and Josef got some shirts (pictures coming soon) We also got a wonderful family present, but you'll have to wait until christmas to find out what it is. We're looking forward to seeing everyone during the Christmas season
